AFEX INTERGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS.

AFEX is committed to providing a clean, safe and secure working environment for all our clients, our staff, third party contractors, and site residents. To achieve this throughout all AFEX’s operations we ensure compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety, environmental, legal and regulatory requirements in the countries that we operate in. For AFEX this actually goes beyond the minimum standards required through safety legislation. We require active participation from all our staff and all our contractors. 

AFEX has developed an Integrated Management System (IMS) ensuring we apply requisite and appropriate policies, procedures, inspections, audit checks, corrective actions and management reviews to each AFEX project. 

Our IMS combines AFEX operations into a coherent, seamless structure, enabling AFEX to manage and focus on all aspects of Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment.
AFEX Kenya holds the following internationally recognized quality certifications:
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Policy)

Our overarching objective as AFEX is to provide products and services that exceed our customer expectations across all functional business units, departments, and facilities.

•    To achieve operational excellence and continually improve such excellence through the adoption of best industrial practices and the applicable customer, statutory and regulatory requirements.
•    To build great camps and provide catering and facility management services that surpass international standards while conforming to legal, moral, and social obligations. 
•    To procure logistics and transport services that continually prevent losses and preserve the quality of perishable products being transported. 
•    To exceed client expectations, requirements, and contractual obligations as well as to satisfy applicable requirements from all our stakeholders. 
•    To continually improve our quality management system by implementing identified corrections and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformities and prevent their recurrence.

  • ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety policy)

AFEX is committed to establishing and maintaining occupational health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001:2018. The system implementation includes adoption of risk-based approach, process-approach, policies, procedures, and processes throughout the business cycle to meet our health and safety objectives. We endeavour to build a preventive culture hence AFEX gives priority to developing and implementing safe systems of work.  We are actively measuring our health and safety performance using targets as basis to deliver continual improvement in the context of occupational health and safety. 
As AFEX we are committed to:
•    Promoting a strong and visible health and safety culture throughout our operations. 
•    Continually providing safe and healthy working conditions across all our workplaces to prevent work-related injuries, incidents, and ill-health. 
•    Establishing and implementing safe systems of work and continually improving such systems of work to address risks associated with operations and to create a safe working environment.   
•    Working in accordance with all applicable health and safety legislation as well as industrial best practices and client requirements to which we subscribe.
•    Eliminating hazards and reducing occupational health and safety risks.
•    Consulting and engaging workers as well as work representatives, listening to workforce, contractors and clients on regular basis and taking into consideration the views of wider stakeholders relating to health and safety matters. 
•    Using preventive approach to health and safety management by assessing, controlling, and reducing risks. 
•    Continually improving the organization’s occupational health and safety management system by setting robust objectives and targets, monitoring key performance indicators, and implementing corrections and corrective actions to ascertain conformance to all applicable requirements.  
•    Providing training, instructions, and education as a way of promoting competency to enable work to be carried out in a safe manner.
•    To provide all required personal protective equipment and facilities as barriers to cushion workers against occupational hazards.

Everyone working on behalf of AFEX Group is required to:
•    Work in accordance with AFEX’s occupational health and safety management system.
•    Authoritatively stop any work owing to health and safety concerns if such work poses imminent risk. 

  • ISO 22000:2018 (Food Safety policy)

AFEX is firmly committed to ensuring that in its Institutional and industrial catering services all food is safely procured, transported, stored, prepared, served and consumed in hygienic conditions, no matter the remoteness of the location. This applies to AFEX camps and facilities as well as AFEX catering services undertaken at third party locations. 
As AFEX we are committed to:
•    Promoting strong and visible food safety culture throughout our operations.
•    Satisfying applicable food safety requirements, including statutory and regulatory requirements and mutually agreed customer requirements related to food safety. 
•    Addressing internal and external communications.
•    Monitoring food safety management systems and improving performance using key performance indicators and setting robust objectives and targets.
•    Performing training needs analysis in the context of food safety and bridging identified gaps through continual training to enhance competency development.
•    Continually improving the safety management system by implementing corrections and corrective actions recommended through food safety audits, customer satisfactory surveys and management reviews. 
•    Assessing our critical food and beverage suppliers to ensure that the products we receive are consistent with international food safety standards.
•    Ensuring that food is safely transported, stored, handled and prepared in accordance with internationally recognized HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Point) principles through assessing, controlling and reducing risks.
•    Ensuring that critical hazard analysis is comprehensively done, and significant hazards identified, and control measures put in place.
•    Ensuring that critical control points are identified, and hazard control measures implemented and closely monitored to ensure that food is not contaminated with physical, chemical and biological hazards. 
•    Ensuring that operational prerequisite programmes are identified and implemented to avoid food cross-contamination and to eliminate significant food hazards. 

  • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Policy)

AFEX is committed to establishing and maintaining environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. The system implementation includes adoption of risk-based approach, process-approach, policies, procedures, and processes throughout the business cycle to meet our environmental objectives. We endeavour to safeguard the environment against degradation by developing and implementing safe systems of work.  We are actively measuring our Environmental performance using targets as basis to deliver continual improvement in the context of environmental management. 
As AFEX we are committed to: 
•    Promoting a strong and visible environmental protection and conservation culture throughout our operations. 
•    Protecting the environment, including prevention of air, water, and land (soil) pollution. 
•    Protecting and preserving biodiversity (flora and fauna) through adoption of safe ecological practices. 
•    Using preventive approach to environmental protection and conservation. 
•    Promoting sustainable use of resources, adoption of measures to mitigate climate change and protection of the ecosystem. 
•    Fulfilling legal, moral, and social obligations.
